ENVS6970 - Thesis Research - 1 - 12 Credits
Course Learning Outcomes
Plan A (Thesis) students will be able to:
Analyze and synthesize existing scientific knowledge on a defined research topic in the field of environmental studies, environmental science, recreation resource management and/or geography. Formulate a research question that builds on existing knowledge in a related topical area, and that can be answered within the scope of a master’s thesis project.
Design and implement data collection and analysis strategies appropriate to the research question to generate new knowledge (can include case study application of current theory).
Formulate findings and communicate them effectively to an academic audience through both a written thesis and an oral defense.
Respond successfully to follow-up questions from an academic audience.
Plan B (Project) students will be able to:
Analyze, synthesize, and/or apply existing scientific knowledge on a defined research topic in the field of environmental studies, environmental science, recreation resource management and/or geography, as appropriate to a Plan B master’s project.
Communicate effectively to a specified audience through both a written project report and an oral defense.
