Course Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to:

  1. Analyze and synthesize existing scientific knowledge on a defined research topic in the interdisciplinary field of Environment and Society.

  2. Formulate research questions that build on existing knowledge on a relevant socioenvironmental topic, and that can be answered within the scope of a doctoral dissertation project.

  3. Design and implement data collection and analysis strategies appropriate to the research questions to generate new knowledge.

  4. Formulate findings and communicate them effectively to an academic audience through both a written dissertation and an oral defense.

  5. Respond successfully to follow-up questions from an academic audience.
