Course Learning Outcomes
1 Students will be able to apply the scientific method to questions about Earth systems, including forming hypotheses, analyzing evidence, and interpreting results.
2 Students will demonstrate a fundamental understanding of the physical principles that govern Earth’s structure, motion, and energy systems.
3 Students will interpret and evaluate quantitative data from graphs, tables, or maps related to Earth science phenomena such as climate trends, seismic activity, or atmospheric composition.
4 Students will explain the physical and chemical processes that shape the Earth's surface and interior, including plate tectonics, erosion, and mineral formation.
5 Students will analyze the role of the Sun, Moon, and Earth’s internal heat in driving natural systems such as weather, ocean currents, and the water cycle.
6 Students will evaluate the credibility and reliability of scientific sources related to current issues affecting Earth, such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and resource depletion.
7 Students will use written and/or visual formats to communicate scientific ideas clearly, with a focus on Earth science topics relevant to human society.
8 Students will explore the interdependence of Earth’s biosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere, and geosphere, and assess how changes in one system affect the others.
9 Students will examine the evolutionary history of life on Earth and explain the scientific theories of life’s origin and development through its history.
10 Students will assess the impact of human activity on Earth’s systems and become scientifically informed in regard to actions in support sustainability for future generations.
