Course Learning Outcomes

1. Analyze the physical processes that cause natural hazards and evaluate how they interact with human systems to create natural disasters using case studies and scientific data.
2. Assess the societal, economic, and environmental impacts of major natural disasters and propose evidence-based mitigation strategies.
3. Interpret and critique media and policy responses to natural disasters, distinguishing between scientific evidence and public perception.
4. Synthesize interdisciplinary perspectives (geology, climate science, social science) to develop an understanding of disaster risk and its management for different communities.
