Course Learning Outcomes
Locate relevant and timely scientific evidence on a given topic.
Develop a working knowledge of communication and behavior change theories.
Develop learning goals and objectives and evaluation strategies for a targeted communication event that is selected to meet the needs of the audience.
Demonstrate skills in the appropriate use of professional citations and referencing in a variety of communication methods and styles.
Review, critique, and synthesize scientific evidence on a given topic.
Demonstrate skills in effectively communicating information to a variety of audiences (professional peers, lay public, media) using a variety of communication channels (written reports, web-based tools, oral presentations, etc).
Review and critique communication programs and distinguish effective from ineffective communication techniques.
Demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving skills when communicating with others.
Demonstrate a skillful ability to write, using visual communication as appropriate, by accomplishing an intentional purpose, engaging with texts or source material, and adapting the written work to different audiences the discipline may need to address.
