Course Learning Outcomes

1. Apply evidence, critical thinking, and sound judgment in determining the needs and appropriate health interventions for a population. 2. Incorporate holistic principles during the provision of population health interventions at the local, national, and global level.
3. Identify common population safety issues and describe the resources available to mitigate those issues.
4. Demonstrate effective written and oral communication for the assessment, evaluation, and recommendations for population health issues and include the use of technology to enhance both the acquisition and dissemination of information.
5. Describe the legal and ethical principles related to population health.
6. Describe the roles and responsibilities of a BSN-prepared nurse as they relate to health policy, laws, and interventions. Prepare a health policy statement directed towards a local, state, or federal lawmaker promoting a position on a population health issue.
7. Identify and apply the levels of prevention to improve health outcomes of diverse populations.
8. Balance the needs and values of the individual during the provision of population health interventions.
