Course Learning Outcomes

1. Describe the major branches and disciplines of horticulture and explain their roles in agriculture, landscaping, and environmental management.
2. Identify fundamental plant structures and functions and explain how these relate to plant growth and development.
3. Explain basic principles of plant propagation, nutrition, and environmental requirements as they apply to the cultivation of horticultural crops.
4. Explain basic horticultural skills such as planting, soil preparation, and plant maintenance using industry-accepted practices.
5. Explain what constitutes appropriate plant species for specific landscape or production settings based on climate, soil conditions, and intended use.
6. Research a topic from class, or one that is related, that piques your interest. Using that research, write a research paper using citations from at least 4 different, credible resources.
