Changes in Registration: Dropping, Withdrawing, and Late Semester Requests
Dropping Courses
Students may drop courses through the add/drop deadline, which is 20 percent of the course, as specified on the Registration Calendar. A course dropped by this deadline will not appear on the student’s academic transcript, and the assessment of tuition and student fees will be reversed.
Withdrawing Courses
Action taken after the add/drop deadline, which is 20 percent of the course, but before the withdraw deadline, which is 60 percent of the course, is classified as a withdrawal. A notation of "W" will be permanently affixed to the transcript for each withdrawn course. Tuition, student fees, and any applicable course, delivery, or special fees are not reversed for withdrawn courses.
Late Semester Withdrawals
Action taken after the withdraw deadline, which is 60 percent of the course, is not permitted. Students will receive a final grade based on the work completed, which will be posted to their transcript.
Extenuating Circumstances
Students facing non-academic extenuating circumstances after the withdraw deadline, which is 60 percent of the course, may file a request for an Academic Record Adjustment (ARA). These requests are governed by the ARA policy and require supporting documentation. Please note that submitting a request does not guarantee approval.
Re-enrollment
Re-enrollment refers to the process by which students return to the university after a break in their enrollment. The requirements for returning depend on the student type, the length of their absence, and their academic standing at the time of departure.
New Incoming Undergraduate Students: New incoming students who drop all courses must defer their admission through the Admissions Office.
Undergraduate Students: Undergraduate students who drop or withdraw from all their courses should submit a Notification of Leave. These students remain eligible to re-enroll without reapplying for admission, provided they return within three years from their last registered semester as defined in the Undergraduate Admission policy.
Graduate Students: Matriculated graduate students who drop or withdraw from all their courses should contact the School of Graduate Studies.
International Students: International students who drop or withdraw from all their courses must contact the Office of Global Engagement.
Academic Pause: Students who are on academic pause must reapply for admission to return.
