Either 9 credits from any single scientific prefix (e.g. three classes with the prefix BIOL, three classes with the prefix CHEM, etc.) or 9 credits from any course in the JCOM catalog. (If the latter, your SciComm track mentor teacher will work with you to communicate to the JCOM instructor of record the preference for any subject-optional assignment to be focused on a scientific topic; all decisions on curriculum are ultimately determined by the instructor of record)
3 credits of thesis study with your SciComm track mentor instructor or designee resulting in a SciComm project of merit or 3 credits of a SciComm internship. Internships must be approved by your SciComm track mentor teacher and will be expected to be completed with mentorship from a SciComm professional. Can be taken concurrently or in consecutive semesters
Total elective credit is determined by General Education courses taken, degree type selected, additional credits earned, and any additional math or other prerequisite courses needed. Please consult your  Academic Advisor for details.
