About this Degree
The Data Literacy minor is designed to be accessible to students from all majors. It aims to help students better understand how modern data analysis tools are used, and how the results from such analyses can be best communicated. In earning the Data Literacy minor, students will:
Understand the ways in which data is collected and stored, along with best practices for accessing collected information using basic computer programming and other software.
Understand what it means to be statistically significant and how it differs from naturally occurring variations observed in data.
Understand how to create basic statistical models that predict hard to measure outcomes based on easier to measure inputs.
Understand best practices for communicating insight from data in reports, presentations, and other visuals.
