Program Learning Outcomes
Objectives:
1- Students will explore the relationship between gender and violence through the lens of intersectionality, analyzing how marginalized identities intersect with various forms of violence, including sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and systemic violence.
2- Students will examine sociological perspectives on deviance, focusing on how they apply to lifestyles, commitment, and social control in American society.
3- Students will explore the racial and ethnic disparities in incarceration in the United States, examining the social, political, and historical factors behind minority overrepresentation in the criminal justice system, while studying the processes of racial differentiation and the role of biology, culture, and social context in shaping perceptions of race.
