Additionally, the following courses are required to meet BLA requirements and also will fulfill General Education requirements, beyond those met through BLA core coursework.
Students must matriculate (be accepted) to the BLA program. Matriculation is based on performance in the following courses and submission of a design portfolio and letter of intent. Learn more at laep.usu.edu/students/how-to-apply.
The following courses are required for the BLA undergraduate portion of the degree.
Total undergraduate elective credit is determined by General Education courses taken, degree type selected, additional credits earned, and any additional math or other prerequisite courses needed. Students seeking an accelerated degree program are not required to complete a Certificate of Proficiency or Minor. Please consult your  Academic Advisor for details.
To be accepted into the combined BLA+MLA program, students must apply for the Master’s of Landscape Architecture Degree via applynow.usu.edu during their junior year. If accepted, they begin taking graduate-level courses during their senior year. Students only pay graduate-level tuition during their fifth year of study. Learn more on the LAEP website.
A Plan A thesis or Plan B paper/project option is required and is to be negotiated with the candidate, major professor, and supervisory committee. Every graduate student is required to complete 2 credits of course, and an additional 3 credits of course or 3 credits in course, depending on plan type.

Elective courses must be 5000 level or higher. Students should consult their major professor when selecting elective courses.
