Program Requirements
course and course are required. Students may fulfill the remaining six credits by selecting one course from the Writing core requirement and one course from the Creative Writing core requirement listed below.
Students develop specific skills, competencies, and points of view needed by professionals in the fields of creative writing, teaching, and/or literary studies.
Students learn to analyze and critically evaluate ideas, arguments, and points of view that inform the production and interpretation of literature and cultural works.
Students gain a broader understanding and appreciation of intellectual-cultural activity (music, science, literature, etc.) in relation to specific communities.
Students may select any ENGL or TCR courses for elective credit. Only 3 credits of TCR courses count for an elective. Six credits must be upper-division (3000 or 4000 level).
Students may register for an internship for elective credit (ENGL 4900) that combines their academic skills with their professional interests and allows them to develop valuable workplace skills. This program allows up to three credits of internship.
