About this Degree
Students gain the skills to uncover the ‘why’ behind human behavior and family dynamics. The Human Development and Family Services (HDFS) Department’s undergraduate major equips students to launch impactful careers. Students explore social, cognitive, and emotional development, and the influence of family relationships through in-depth academic study and applied learning. Gaining essential skills to navigate complex relationships, understand diverse perspectives, and become effective professionals.
A required practicum, a supervised real-world experience, enables students to apply developmental insights in diverse settings, including (but not limited to) youth mentoring programs, family resource centers, crisis intervention services, elder care facilities, and child development centers.
Students are well-prepared for graduate studies or direct employment, supported by personalized advising and long-term academic and career plans.
