A minimum grade of a “C” is required for all Music Education Core Curriculum courses.

Complete ALL of the following Courses:

NOTE:

  1. course - 1 credit required.

All individual instruction courses on major instrument must be passed with a grade of B- or better. All other music concentration courses must be passed with a grade of C or better. Major requirements may not be taken for a pass/fail grade, except those courses which are only taught on a pass/fail basis. Minimum GPA for all required music program courses as well as STEP courses is 3.0. An overall minimum GPA of 3.0 is required for graduation.

Fulfill ALL of the following requirements:
Complete ALL of the following Courses:

Earn at least 7 credits from the following:

NOTE:

  1. course - First year fall and spring, 2 credits.

  2. course - Second year fall semester, 1 credit.

  3. course - Second year spring through fourth year fall semesters, 4 credits total.

AND

3 credits minimum of Large Ensemble are required. Any combinations of these two courses satisfies the requirement.

Earn at least 3 credits from the following:

1 credit of choral ensemble is required. Any one of these courses will satisfy the requirement.

Earn at least 1 credits from the following:

It is recommended to take course second year fall and  course fourth year fall.

Students must maintain a 3.0 overall GPA and a grade of C or better in all STEP program courses.

To graduate, students are required to attend a minimum of 80 concerts or recitals. Recital and concert attendance is monitored and recorded in the Music Student Services office. Students should turn in programs after attending concerts and recitals for documentation of attendance.

This program typically leads to licensure and was designed to meet licensing qualifications in the state of Utah.
