School of Graduate Studies General Graduation Guidelines:

Degree Verification: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited U. S. college or university or a similarly recognized international university is required for admission to and completion of a graduate program.
Overall Graduate GPA: At least 3.0 and no grades of C- or lower. Graduate students are required to maintain at least a 3.0 GPA for degree-program courses. Grades of C- or lower will not be accepted for a graduate degree.
Course Number Acceptability: The Program of Study for a master’s degree must include at least 18 semester credits at the level of 6000 or above. The program of study may include up to 12 semester credits of 5000 level courses.
Matriculation Start Semester: A master’s degree must be completed within six years of entering the degree program. Additional time may be requested and submitted to the Vice Provost of Graduate Studies for review.

Embedded Internship:
Internship experiences are embedded within coursework, allowing students to directly apply what they are learning to real-world leadership practice aligned with Utah state standards.

In the first course, students complete 12 hours of shadowing. Beyond that, internship activities are integrated into coursework and can typically be completed with minimal time away from a student’s current position.
Students are required to complete internship experiences in both elementary and secondary settings. While students are responsible for identifying their own internship sites (which may include their current school), faculty provide guidance and support throughout the process.

Course Offerings:
Students will take 27 credit hours (or nine 3-credit courses), plus one 3-credit elective course from Curriculum and Instruction Core course offerings—for a total of 30 credits. To see planning guide and course offerings, please refer to our School Leadership webpage.
