The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA )certificate requires a total of 9 courses. To earn the certificate, students must meet the SHS minimum course grade requirement of C, pass the clinical experience course and have a GPA of at least 3.0 in the required courses.

SHS courses may be repeated to improve grades up to a total of three times for a particular course or across courses. Students may waive up to six credits of undergraduate Utah State University SLPA courses (excluding course CLINICAL EXP: SPEECH/LANG/PATH) equivalent to approved undergraduate courses from another institution.

Students are responsible for finding their own SLPA employment or internship that meets the clinical experience requirements of course. Instructor approval for use of that setting is required before enrollment in 5960.

Students who have completed a USU Speech and Hearing Sciences bachelor degree, but have not yet completed all the SLPA certificate requirements may do so in post-bachelor status.
