The Online Master of Science in Second Language Teaching degree (SLT-MS) has a 30-credit requirement. All coursework is delivered online, asynchronously.
Students must complete either a thesis (Plan A), or teaching portfolio (Plan B).
• Full-time student degree completion expectation is 2 years.
• In-person courses are not currently offered for this track.
NOTE:
PLAN A (Thesis) - Enroll in 6 credits
PLAN B (Teaching Portfolio) - Enroll in 3 credits
Students will choose 6-9 credits.
• Approved TEAL 6XXX-level Course (3 credits)
• Approved ITLS 6XXX-level Course (3 credits)
NOTE:
PLAN A (Thesis)- Enroll in 6 elective credits.
PLAN B (Teaching Portfolio)- Enroll in 9 elective credits.
Master of Science in Second Language Teaching (SLT-MS) track with teaching licensure path/program must complete 36 credits.
The Teaching Licensure Track offers Plan B option only.
• The Teaching Licensure Track requires both in-person and online asynchronous coursework.
• Full-time student degree completion expectation is 2 years.
NOTES:
course - Enroll in 6 credits.
Teaching Licensure: course(3 credits) is not required to earn the Master's degree for students on the Teaching Licensure Track. However, it is required to apply for grades 6-12 teaching licensure in the state of Utah. This increases the total number of credits for students choosing to earn both the Master's and licensure to 39 credits.
