Sociology - MS

A minimum of 12 elective credits are required. At least 6 elective credits must be sociology courses at the 6000-level or above.

Credits in the following areas are not acceptable in a degree program: foreign languages (unless included in an approved Program of Study), continuing graduate advisement, individual home study, military science, and courses numbered below 6000.

Classes not listed below (i.e. relevant courses from another program or department) may be applied toward the MS elective requirement but must be authorized by the Graduate Program Director and/or Major Professor and included in an approved Program of Study.

All Sociology MS students are required to complete 9 credits of thesis research hours.

However, a student may substitute 3 of the 9 required thesis research credits (for a total of 6) with an additional 3-credit elective course if approved by their supervisory committee.
