The Musical Theatre program is designed to provide a comprehensive education that combines rigorous professional training in acting, voice, and dance with a strong liberal arts foundation. This program aims to cultivate innovative and adaptable artists who can excel in a dynamic and evolving global landscape.
The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre at Utah State University offers a comprehensive and rigorous training experience, nurturing the artistic and technical skills essential for success in the field. The curriculum emphasizes a collaborative approach, integrating voice, acting, and dance with coursework in music theory, performance practice, and production. Students participate in private voice instruction every semester to ensure continuous vocal development and engage in at least one intensive dance course each semester to excel in movement. The training culminates in a capstone project.

Admitted and current students must meet with a musical theatre area advisor before registering for courses, as well as meet with the Caine School of the Arts advisor.
Admission Requirements for this Program
Students are considered for admission to the department and BFA degree program through application referral from USU Admissions and submission of supporting materials to the department https://artsci.usu.edu/theatre-arts/students-and-alumni/prospective-students/apply.
Acceptance is not guaranteed.
Transfer students must verify transfer credit acceptance prior to application to USU.
Major Expectations: Students are expected to develop proper attitudes, habits, work standards and professionalism to move on to graduate studies or directly into the professional world of Musical Theatre. Students are expected to audition for all department productions and be available to accept any role.
Minimum Overall GPA for Admission: 2.75
