Program Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate a basic knowledge of the US Corrections systems; develop critical skills, competencies, and points of view required by corrections workers.
Objectives:
1- Students will analyze the history, philosophies, and administration of corrections in America, exploring sentencing strategies including alternatives to incarceration, prison communities, alternatives to incarceration, and reform efforts.
2- Students will explore the history, philosophies, and administration of inmates' rights in America, focusing on punishment, prison communities, and reform efforts.
3- Students will examine the effects of trauma and the factors that contribute to human resilience, focusing on how individuals cope with and overcome adverse experiences.
