NOTE:
18 credits of CS 7970- Typically taken after the first year. Only 6 credits of 7970 are allowed before passing the qualifying exam.
Complete the following:
At least 12 credits of CS 6000-level courses or above are required for graduation, excluding CS6250 and CS7970.
The remaining credits required by the degree may be fulfilled by taking additional credits of graduate coursework at the 5000-level or above, or additional credits of CS7970.
NOTES:
Up to 9 credits of 5000-level courses are allowed.
Up to 3 credits of CS6250 are allowed.
A maximum of one course is allowed from the following list: CS5950 , CS6950, or CS7950.
CS6970, CS6990, and CS7990 are not allowed.
A maximum of 9 credits are allowed from outside the School of Computing. Outside credits must be from ECE, MATH, STAT, or any other course approved by a student’s major professor.
Complete ALL of the following:
Form a supervisory committee.
Pass a practice defense qualifying exam demonstrating depth of knowledge in the student’s area(s) of emphasis.
Successfully complete and defend a research proposal.
Publish research in peer-reviewed venues approved by the major professor.
Prepare a dissertation.
Successfully defend and submit the dissertation to the library.
