Licensure Notification

Given the varied and changing requirements across jurisdictions, Utah State University departments make reasonable efforts to determine the states where their programs currently do and do not meet educational requirements for licensure. The current information for each program that is expected to lead to licensure and each state is available at https://www.usu.edu/online/state-authorization/. Students are encouraged to become familiar with relevant state licensing laws and discuss their curricular plan with their program advisor. The Music Therapy BS Program at USU fully prepares students to qualify for the national certification examination to earn the credential of “Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC).”  As a board-certified music therapist, graduates would then be eligible to apply for licensure in any state where this may be required.
