Program Requirements

Completion requirement
Complete ALL of the following Courses:

NOTE:

  1. course or course can be taken concurrently with the required program courses, and be completed with a C or better.

  2. course - May be taken at any time, and is taught in English

It is strongly recommended that all Spanish Emphasis majors complete the following 21 credits as part of the 24 required credits for Spanish: course AND then least one SPAN 34XX- OR SPAN 35XX-level course (3 credits); AND at least one SPAN 36XX-level course (3 credits); AND three (9 credits) SPAN 49XX-  OR SPAN 5XXX-level courses.

Courses for the major may not be taken on a pass/fail basis, except for SPAN 3010SPAN 3520, and SPAN 4920 which may be taken pass/fail.

Complete ANY of the following Courses:

NOTE:

  1. course - If not already used as WL&C Major Spanish Emphasis core course.

  2. course - If not already used as WL&C Major Spanish Emphasis core course.

  3. course - Bridge program only.

  4. course - Bridge program only.

  5. course - Bridge program only.

  6. course - 1 credit.

  7. course - If not used to fulfill WL&C major core course in linguistics.

  8. course - Prerequisite for course; Co-requisite: one Span 36XX-level course (3 credits).

Note: Courses for the major may not be taken on a pass/fail basis, except for course, course, and course which may be taken as pass/fail.

Completion requirement

Courses for teaching emphases and the teaching minors may be subject to change, and students should contact the Secondary Education Advising Office for a current course list of STEP requirements.

  2. course and course must be taken during the same semester.

Licensure Notification

This program typically leads to licensure and was designed to meet licensing qualifications in the state of Utah. If students wish to work in another state within the United States, they should review the qualifications for that state and the Education Licensure Compliance Table provided by School of Teacher Education and Leadership.
